My friend and fellow 'Found Object' mixed media artist, Betsy Halford, and I have both found several of these little aluminum caps somewhere on the ground, smashed to the point of resembling little alien faces. Betsy helped me create this one, complete with his glowing crystal eyes, creepy dangling arms and his own personal flying saucer (a roller blade wheel), while we were doing our "Re-Use, Re-Cycle…Re-Create!" show at On the Edge Gallery last month. We had a big tray full of the 'junk' people were donating and Betsy kept digging through it, finding potential "out of this world" body parts for my alien creature. Isn't he just cute and creepy at the same time? I call him "An Alien Among Us". This is a found object mixed media sculpture priced at $35.
