I love using pastel for painting figures and portraits, but it is also perfect for painting skies. Living in Arizona where the sky is so big (not a lot of trees in the desert to block the view) and the sunsets are so amazing, every time I see some incredible colors or striations in the sky I want to swirl my fingers in some pastel dust and make those clouds my own.
